Gate.io trade history CSV for spot and futures
Gate.io uses different column names for spot and futures, and its futures Size is usually contracts. This guide covers both exports, the fields that matter, and how to pair the fills without mixing up base amount and contract count.
How to export Gate.io trade history
Open Trade History
Log in to Gate.io on desktop. Open Orders → Trade History, then choose Spot or Futures.
Filter by pair or contract
Pick the market and date range. For futures, export one contract at a time if the contract size differs across markets.
Export CSV
Click Export/Download and choose CSV. Gate.io may include a Role column (maker/taker); keep it, it is useful context even though it is not required for P&L.
Separate spot and futures files
Spot uses Pair and Amount; futures use Contract and Size. Import them as separate files and check the quantity unit before pairing.
CSV columns you need to understand
Exact headers vary by export type and region. These are the columns that change the import result.
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Time | Fill time. |
| Pair / Contract | Spot pair or futures contract. |
| Side | Buy/Sell or Open/Close long/short, depending on the export. |
| Price | Fill price. |
| Amount / Size | Spot base amount or futures contract quantity. |
| Fee | Trading fee in the fee currency. |
| Role | Maker or taker; useful for fee analysis. |
Common Gate.io CSV mistakes
- Spot Amount is a base-asset quantity; futures Size is usually contracts. Do not use the same multiplier for both.
- Gate.io side labels can be Open Long, Close Long, Open Short or Close Short. A simple Buy/Sell parser may reject them.
- A Close Long is a Sell and a Close Short is a Buy. Mapping it as the position direction instead of the fill action flips P&L.
- Fees can be charged in GT or another asset; convert before comparing net P&L.
How SureGain handles Gate.io files
The Gate.io adapter recognizes Pair or Contract, Time, Size/Amount and Role. It normalizes Open/Close long and short labels into buy/sell fills, so FIFO pairing works in both directions.
Because Gate.io contract sizes vary, set the contract multiplier for futures files. Spot files can stay at 1.
FAQ
Does Gate.io export spot and futures in the same format?+
No. Spot uses Pair and Amount; futures use Contract and Size. Import them separately and check whether Size is contracts.
Why are my Gate.io sides rejected?+
Some exports use Open Long, Close Long, Open Short or Close Short instead of Buy and Sell. SureGain handles those labels; a generic importer may not.
Can I import Gate.io futures without a multiplier?+
You can, but the P&L will be wrong if Size is contracts. Set the contract face value first.
Is Gate.io data uploaded?+
No. CSV parsing and the journal stay in your browser. The server only stores waitlist emails.
